From here you can easily reach nearby areas that have a mild and friendly landscape, as well as wilder and more remote destinations. Some settle for beautiful walks to Stavassdalen valley, while experienced hikers may head for places such as Elgvidda, which sees far fewer visitors. There are also plenty of options for summit hikes. Some of the peaks are also ideal for winter excursions.

How to get here

You can reach Trofors by taking the Trondheim–Bodø train, take the Brønnøysund–Mosjøen bus (also called Tosenekspressen) or by car. The bus stops at the train station, right beside which is a grocery store where you can stock up on supplies for your hike.

If you are driving, you have great flexibility: head for Stavassdalen where you will find parking. If not, just walk there from the village centre, along the old trail, Gamle Stavassvei.
